    Remilia the Flower Girl 2

    "Don't call me Remilia..."

This was the last trace of her pride.
She wanted to defy that the former Remilia Scarlet could have became a harlot.
With her wealth gone, her pride doesn't have any worth whatsoever, but she wants to think that her heart still isn't stained. It was some kind of an incantation for her.

But he still called her Remilia.
Because disgracing someone once called Mistress to one's heart's content was satisfying beyond description.
And it wasn't just regular insults, most insulting for Remilia with traces of pride in her heart was her label as "Shitty slut Mistress who fell as low as a harlot."

Remilia felt like her formerly widely known name was killing her soul.
Her own cowardliness, helpless sadness, uneasiness about an unclear future.
But she could only weep while waiting for her "work" to end...

    Still implausibly. And boring.

I do not want to offend anyone, but I really don't like parasites who mimics a popular characters.

I'm sorry but artists, skilled or not, will not always draw things you want to see, it's a part of life everyone has to deal with. You can't just pretend a 1 month old piece of bread is edible because you don't want to believe the mold and flourishing bacteria culture on it doesn't exist, there's only so much placebo and trying to fool yourself can help you.

Just ignore, curse the artist and others who enjoy this kind of image in your mind if you want but don't say it out loud, then move on. Nobody died from the creation of this art, it's arguably not causing anyone to necessarily become a worse human being for wanting to draw or see it, so just ignore it.

If ridiculous claims is over, more seriously:
    - Remilia Scarlet is character with a sufficiently clear canon.
    - Compliance with canon is fairly objective parameter.
    - This objective parameter can be subjectively like or dislike.
    - And can be commented in the comments.
I do not see any reason to dispute.

I am not saying that I "don't want to see" your comment, I'm not downvoting you and have never considered doing so. If you dislike an image, it's your freedom. I'm not saying you should never ever express negative emotions towards a person/piece of work, I apologize for not being clear enough, you can do it, but the particular method you are using here, as evidenced by the amount of downvotes from others that you got, can come off as rather immature. It's like a child closing his ears and chanting over and over that he cannot hear something, therefore that thing does not exist. I actually enjoy argumentative discussions myself, but when it's based on "I hate this because I hate your face" more than reasonable criticism, it can be rather obnoxious. I actually agree with you that this image is wildly out of character for Remilia, the image's own commentary even admits it, but if someone does not even try to act as a sophisticated person, why should he be treated as one?

You can argue whether or not this particular image fits to whatever your concept of the character "Remilia Scarlet" is, but otherwise your same logic could be use to flame almost every yuri images of non-explicitly yuri animes on this site, especially those that have canon male partners.

    *shrugged*
I wrote one and a half negative, but short and reasoned post, which explained that I do not like and why. Their tacit downvoting really talking about immaturity. But not MY immaturity.

Presumption of interlocutor's idiocy - an insidious thing, besides it not very polite.

    azurelorochi said:

Enough, let's it to me ))

I not say about my concept of the character "Remilia Scarlet", I generally avoid arguing about tastes. I say about facts.
What Remilia five hundreds years age, that she was born in the medieval feudal Europe, and that she kept her manor for centuries, and not as a monster, but as a leader developed commodity society, sufficient to ensure her comfort - it's a fact.
What situation in the picture is not compatible with the experience and skills (I'm not talking about the character, which can be interpreted in different ways, or even about powers) needed for this - also a fact.
And what paper money, coats, metal barrels, etc could not be in the Remilia's distant past - a fact too.

If such facts for some reason neglected - I treat this with understanding. But the consequences of this, sometimes I do not like.
For example, when under tag "Remilia Scarlet" I find uninteresting stranger.
Sometimes I can even make a polite comment about it ))

You want to discuss something else?

I feel like this is the 'bad end' to Reimu's victory over the SDM during the scarlet mist incident. You know, like an alternative ending. A 'What if Reimu destroyed so much of the SDM that she had to abandon it'. A similiar but opposite style ending of post #713191.

Your English is atrocious making it difficult to understand what you're trying to say, thus making it harder to argue anything. But I can understand that you're not a native English speaker so this is forgiveable and completely besides the point.

Now arguing about things like canonity for fanart tends to be pointless (since it's fanart making deviations par for the course, and not something worth arguing over like official sources getting their own continuity wrong) especially in Touhou but your argument here, from what I could understand, is that Remilia
*has been able to keep and manage her manor for centuries
*nothing in the picture shows that the skills needed for the above would be insufficient,
    *confirmation of the above statement.

I think this is right. But the problem is also that we see very little outside of an alleyway. For all we know, the stock market could have been introduced and she made bad investments, resources were not properly managed after entering Gensokyo and acquiring the same funds needed for normal expenses is a lot more difficult in Gensokyo then it was in Europe, or many other things that cannot be easily seen from the images alone.

Or we could go another way. Trashcans, brick houses, and the clothing of the guy in the background of the first image aren't exactly common in Gensokyo. So it could also be possible that this happened before the SDM moved there. Perhaps her house had been given to her by family but she failed to manage it properly leading to this situation. And only later does she get her act together and be the Remilia you're familiar with. Or perhaps this is in the future where like in the previous paragraph, the skills she had been using up that point were not so easily applicable to a change in economic environment.

Or perhaps the artist wanted to draw Remilia in a depressing situation.

Really, it could be any number of reasons.

I won't speak about your explanations - maybe I just wrong understand it, as you wrong understand my explanations. Linguistic barrier is difficult not to notice.

I completely agree: everything can be explained with enougth author's arbitrariness. Downgrading, deportation, amnesia + end of all magic in the world, etc. I accept it.
But any fanfiction can (and, IMHO, must) be divided into two types "which supplement" and "which override". You can not have this important parameter in your list of priorities, but it does not make it illogical or unreasonable.

Or perhaps the artist wanted to draw Remilia in a depressing situation.

Possible. The difference between "Remilia Scarlet" and "girl with batwings" this motives, and I can not judge about motives that forced authors draw their stories certainly on top of other, popular; painting over them in it.
I don't know for what in this case artist drew girl without Remilia's skills, abilities, circumstances, situation or personality, but with Remilia's ribbon.

I just shared my mood about it (you can see it above), and later explained its reasons for those who directly or indirectly asked about them.

Yes and while I can agree on dividing fanfiction between supplementary and diverging (or overriding as you but this implies it has higher priority over what is canon so I don't think that's the best word to use), the problem I have with your attitude that made me write my reply in the first place is how you keep saying that this isn't Remilia as if that will make you think less of her, as if your respect for the character is so weak that it can be easily changed.

Remilia is one of my two top favorite characters in Touhou (the other being Satori and yet it has nothing to do with them being older sisters in charge of their respective houses surprisingly) but my opinion of her remains unchanged despite every work that would belittle her. As it stands, I think that shino does a worse job of belittling Remilia than this. That's right, I think that being depicted as forced into prostitution has nothing on what shino has done to Remi.

If a character is changed grossly in fanfiction, that doesn't necessarily make that character no longer that character. That just makes it bad fanfiction.

'This turn of events did not last further from today. Patchouli, once thought dead, returned, and saw the fate of her friend... And what she saw drove her into a rage that would rival that of the most violent oni.

And so, using her magic, she proceeded to obliterate the entire county itself, killing all who delt within... Except Remilia and Flandre, and passed herself off as the soul survivor, putting the blame of the genocide solely on Remilia's shoulders. From that moment on, Remilia became famous not for her 'work,' but as one of the greatest mass murderers in history. From then on, all feared her.'

    Fixed.

    BINGO. Quoted for truth.

It's just sad people can't enjoy a series for what it is and have to hatefully change it into something it's not just to get their shits and giggles. I mean how could anyone doing things like this even call themselves a fan at this point? I've seen haters less destructive of fandoms than this.

Sweetie, if you're still in that phase of your enthusiasts' hermitage, let me give you some hard advice:

    Remember to eat.

Do at least that, and you may survive the darkest times of your enthusiasms...

    Oh no no no.

There is no delusion, sir. This is not Remilia Scarlet. Not in the slightest. The being that Zun himself has portrayed is Remilia Scarlet. THIS is a sad grotesque parody made by a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. Done so for the sake of an infantile power fantasy of seeing anything with greater purpose, poise or notoriety than himself (even in fantasy) being diminished to soothe his psychological insecurities.

Someone taking your mother's clothing, wearing them, then performing sex acts in a truck stop bathroom doesn't not make them your mother in anyway shape or form. That is precisely this picture's contents in principal.

Fanart doesn't not define a character, it only defines the artist drawing it.
