While it does indeed make for a good pun, the reason Sanageyama offers Gamagoori Konnyaku for luck is because his family runs a Konnyaku shop and he apparently is really proud of the family business. He also inserts Konnyaku in some of his lines to make really weird analogies, which prompts Inumuta to comment on it in episode 22.
