I'm surprised this is a meme at all. I thought waiting for literally anything since 5AM in the morning isn't a big deal, especially when similar things always happen at the opening releases of games and movies or god forbid Comiket.

Waiting like that for Hanami is kind of a stretch, sure, but still nothing with enough shock value to warrant a meme.

I think it's less about the timing or waiting itself and more about the fact that the person that gets stuck doing it in this case is "at the bottom of the totem pole," as it were.
