No, more like another world war at the sea will happen is what the admiral was thinking.

It sounds more like the Humanity will turn on the Ship girls, because they'll now be weapons without an enemy, and humanity will have no means to reverting them. (since it's likely a lot of them will go through modernization to defeat the abyssal fleet.)

You didn't get it clearly. Since the backstory of this comic showing "other" nations possesing Kanmusu, this is showing the dilemma of what will happen if they (humanity) win the war, in this admiral's thinking that is.

Thus other nations who posses them will end up having wars using them, since they are much effective than real naval fleets and this is what he is also saying. "That mankind have no way to defeat." So, in my view, in the hands of those people. They can become a threat.

Its basically an allegory for nuclear weapons at the end of WWII (or when Russia demonstrated their own nuclear weapon capabilities).

Nuclear weapons are so much more effective than conventional weapons (side effects aside) that humanity grew to view nuclear weapons themselves as a threat, never mind the who/soldiers/officers/politicians in "control".

*Replace 'nuclear weapons' with 'fleet girls'.

Except that other in very unlikely system error and man-versus-machine science fictions, no risk of nukes launching themselves in a rage fit.
Seems like despite saying "human are the most terrible being", we still see it differently between having a psychopath in command and something not-human in command, even if both posed same threat to the world.

More trouble is because the ship girls looks like human.
Making two assumptions about this story:
    - The world never have modern human war, at least not at the scale of WW2. This is the same as Strike Witches.
    - General public only know about the destroyers and other non-humanoid units that made contact in earlier phase of the war, but the princess classes are still a secret

In those case, it's more difficult to accept killing "human", and they used to be allies.

You need to read less manga and more about the military and child soldiers if you think an enemy that looks like a "human" somehow makes it more difficult to fight.

I second this and speaking of Strike Witches, I also put THAT same dilemma of what-if they defeat the enemy.

Just remember that once they defeat a common foe, one way or less they'll end up fighting amongst themselves.

Well, they're not in real world where human has been killing each others without huge gap from fighting otherworldly threat :)

But there's two plot chance at least.
    - Straight to human against human. But unless they head straight to ship girl proliferation act (that would potentially cause clash between human and ship girls), they would more likely strengthen their fleet to keep balance of power between nations.
    - Human against ship girls. Short fuse would be paranoia. Longer fuse (and more interesting) would be something like nations refused to pay the huge upkeep cost of their veterans and ship girls found the need to fight back in order to survive. For more personal, the difficulties for them to return to the society after the conversion.

IINM, one of the three generals (Monty, Patton or Rommel) had the same idea in the African Corps' manga.
KanColle doesn't specify when the Abyss Fleet begin attacking human.

Also war has been between human and monster for long time, not against sentient human-like being. And these girls are originally human.

They're not originally human. They're closer to gods than anything. Especially loyal ones at that.

I thought the discussion consisted of things outside of the scheme of this...whatever this is?

Except that goes back to the same Cold War analogy. Whoever backs down/builds the smaller/weaker nuclear arsenal "loses." And no one wants to "lose".
