This is nns. If we ever really see the shinkaisei-kan side, it will be one of two things:
1. They are made of ship girls who are basically perpetually raped by alien parasites and kept in perpetual pain and torture.
2. They are actually the good guys, have lots of fun and never suffer, and were trying to save humanity from the evils of the horrible sadistic admiralty. They then are slaughtered mercilessly so that ship girls can go back to being factory-butchered for the admiral's amusement.
Naturally, the option depends entirely upon whichever one would be the most gut-wrenching, depending upon context.
All it comes down to is that if it's a torture porn artist or Dan Kim style black humor, you really just can't expect a happy ending.
