    I think the most horrifying thing with that Sanae is that she corrupts the small snake and the frog hair ornaments to make them look like her.
    That's probably fanon, but aren't these two things gifts from Kanako and Suwako, and therefore divine or something? That Sanae's able to corrupt and twist them is what makes her terrifying.

    Especially when, in the last page, the frog one grows horns.
