I'm guessing it's just pointing out the differences between their gear.

I don't know any of the WWII gear (besides the M1 helmet), but modern: MICH 2000 or ACH helmet with Ops-Core suspension system, ComTac II (?) headset, Surefire HL1 helmet light, MS2000 IR strobe on top, and a binocular NVD (AN/PVS-15 or -31, probably) with battery/counterweight pack on the back; some make of ballistic eyewear; Crye AC combat shirt with Eagle RBAV plate carrier.

Pretty much. I probably should've mentioned, the modern guy's gear is Rangers circa the past few years or so.

Erica has joined the Allies! Where is your ace of aces now, Germany?

Those binoculars are ANVIS-9 aircrew set-up (Battery pack at the back) attached to an ANVIS mount. AN/PVS-15 and the 31s are mounted exclusively on dovetail mounts.

    and for the WW2 ranger:

    Helmet: US M1
    OD green jacket
    M1928 army field pack

Thanks for the correction. It appears my NVD-fu is lacking - I've always had trouble with the different mount systems.
