maybe she got fired from the army after this, then join the air force and retired after Romagna got liberated, then join the navy as female admiral

i want to remind everyone of visibility

the D day invasions was made under rain squalls and heavy natural phenomenons

and even then the human eye can only look about as far as the horizon. by the time you see the armada it would be too late.

I think the shore bombardment would have given them away.

Pretty sure they would have gotten in position on the horizon, just barely specks in the distance first then... Surprise Motherfucker!

And if you think about it, Rommel called the landing at Normandy, what?, like 3 years prior?

Yeah it was the most likely place to land a large force, but he was ignored for the most part. Also that was an amazing diversionary tactic they used prior.

He wasn't ignored, it was just an impossible situation combined with an intelligence failure. The Germans were never going to fortify the entire northern coast of France (see: Utah beach vs Omaha beach) and months/years of diversions left them skeptical of reports that didn't match their expectations.

Ignored might have been the wrong term cause as you said they could not fortify the entire thing so if anything not as much consideration was given as he would have liked.
