SSB is quickly becoming a retirement home for old game characters.

I'm expecting the space invader aliens or pong paddle in the next games after this generation.

And Space Invaders are also the oldest recognizable VG characters ever, they'd make a good fit.

I like the (possibly unintentional) visual pun of having Sonic interact, sort of, with Blinky.

If you don't get it, here's a hint. According to the Pac-Man attract screen, Blinky is also known as "Shadow"...
