It seems like people in japan are becoming more interested in guns. Like I remember seeing an anime come out a few seasons back that was about cute girls and guns. I wonder if all them cawadooty and battlefield games have influenced them.
Or is it the case that people there were always interested in guns but are now kind of showing up in the limelight? Either way it is interesting to see.

Well Japan is by nature a very aggressive and pro-war country. There is a political party there that is advocating the release of Japan from the binding constitution the US made post WWII. This would allow Japan to make a real firearm industry, as well as making more firearms more widely available. Also it would allow Japan to have an actual military (rather than a "policing force") and capabilities of WMD to deter nearby communist countries. Frankly, Japan is very loyal to the US, and I feel we should let them do as they please. Hell, we give more freedom to Syria (essentially our enemies) rather than Japan, one of our biggest supporters.
Edit: I should also add that the firearms of Japan were extremely advanced mechanically considering they just adopted firearms. Of course, there was a bit of copying, but a lot of original design features were evident that showed a lot of promise if they continued manufacturing to this day.

Only because of the big next door neighbor (China); in the past, when China was weak, Japan was primarily concerned with the United States. Now the U.S. is a global power, but isn't as vested in the Pacific as it was in the past; which essentially leaves the area primarily contested between local Asian powers.

Mainland China testing the waters by stretching its growing muscle and squabbling over the littlest things with its neighbors isn't helping.
