You know, I don't understand this series. Can any clarify what this set of pics is all about?

I always thought it was tribal girl being introduced to the big city, but i could be wrong

The reverse: big city girl moved to a tribal place. From memory: a rural place found/had a remedy to some incurable illness, and became famous worldwide. Her father moved to help in the distribution and she followed him there.

What series is this? What's it called?

I know this is really old, but I would like to know too.

The title is probably "沖ノ鳥島東方５００キロに浮かぶ2500km^2ほどの大きさの島の独立国(1968年独立)の奥地の村で暮らしている日本人の娘さん(19)。", which means something like "Japanese girl (19) living in a village of a country (independence in 1968) on an island (size 2500km^2), 500km east of Okinotorishima."
