Umm... didn't FF IV have a giant mechanical robot whose mechanical innards you climbed through as a dungeon, and the game involved having a spaceship to take you to the high-tech ruins of an ancient technologically advanced society?

And it's not like Final Fantasy has ever stopped throttling back and forth between magipunk dystopian technology and hippy tree-huggers, either. FF X was pretty much explicitly about that stuff...

Ancient defunct civilizations /w advanced technology go hand in hand with adventure fantasy. Even the first game had a time-traveling robot.
