Only a god like Kanako would find it weird.

It's sooo refreshing to read some Touhou again, since we are getting so much Kantai stuff on danbooru recently.

Yeah, especially if you can't find an english version and don't understand half of the jokes...

Yeah, this is silly, no matter how you cut it.
Proginetor of Shinto religion, god of Shinto religion, disgraced relation of Shinto religion (ZUN's interpretation of Moon as a place where all the 'noble types of gods live' ), ate a member of Shinto religion, Buddhist priest, and a devil.
Yuyuko's the only one who has an excuse, be it whimsy or the behavior of a yūrei to want to appear alive.

While it isn't weird that Remi would be from a Christian background, the idea of a vampire making a sign of the cross to bless herself is probably the weirdest thing there.

Utsuho has the excuse of probably having no idea what that was, and may have just thought it was some long-winded foreign "itadakimasu". Byakuren may have just gone along with it out of respect for someone else's tradition. Yuyuko, Eirin, and Kaguya because lol, why not? They're perfectly fine with irony.

And that artist shows Kaguya as being extremely nice, so it would make sense for her to go along just to be polite. Same for Eirin, even through I doubt they really understand what's going on.

Yuyuko and Remilia, however, I don't get it. Ghost and devils are anathemas, and supposely weak to everything godlike, from the crosses to the good Unreal players.
Of course, being a Japanese ghost, Yuyuko may be invincible to christian symbols.

    Taking touhou literally.

Bad! That's a bad commenter! No dinner for you.

Rule #1 of touhou: Don't take anything literally.

Everyone including Zun likes to talk in metaphors in touhou, so all that stuff mentioned isn't true.

In Gensokyo, Remilia has the weaknesses of Oni rather than of traditional Western vampires, and so is harmed by roasted soybeans and other forms of Eastern exorcism rather than crosses or holy water. I can't remember the specific interview that was in, though.

It's not explicitly stated in her official canon profile, but yet another supposition made by fandom. Remilia does demonstrate resistance or lacking any of the traditional vampire weaknesses in canon works, so there's that.

She's still weak against the Sun and running water, that don't bother the native Oni. No word about garlic but we know for a fact that she doesn't fear crosses and says she even likes them.

I feel very odd about a vampire being the one to initiate this.

As others have pointed out, she's weak to a few Western things that affect classic vampires as well as Eastern things that affect oni. Perhaps she's made new pledges to give herself a greater number of frailties in exchange for reducing them to minor banes instead of major ones? Take vulnerability to beans (minor - lethal damage) in exchange for reducing sunlight to a mere situational die penalty. Plus, when moving in, it's just polite to adopt the religious weaknesses your neighbors expect of you.

A lot of vampire-related stuff made in the last couple decades doesn't respect crucifixes, either since that part was added in by the Church itself to "Christianize" vampires (lol) or because making crucifixes a bane of vampires is implicitly the same thing as endorsing Christianity as having actual spiritual power. (That is, for a cross to have power on "spiritually unclean" things, it means that there has to have been a legitimately divine Christ. A lot of more modern atheists prefer to make Christian symbols powerless. Of course, Touhou has no problem letting multiple different faiths comingle and have legitimate divine powers...)

It's from a line in Immaterial and Missing Power (from the wiki ), "Residents all over Gensokyo call me like this: Kyuketsu-ki."

["吸血鬼" (Kyuketsuki) means "vampire". The last character "鬼" can be read not only "oni" but "ki". Remilia implied she was also the "oni" like Suika.]

She has non-spiritual weaknesses of classic vampires to sunlight and pure water as well as oni weakness to roasted soybeans.

I will note that in "The Grimoire of Marisa," she notes of Flandre's Taboo [Forbidden Games]: "A spell card that throws a large number of crosses at you. It looks like the reason it's crosses is that they have lots of them at their house. Are they cross hunters, or did they belong to the humans that became their food?"

    So, there is that.

    Yyyeah, this is crazy.
We receive this meal in gratitude for your mercy.
Please bless this food prepared for us,
and let it be nourishment sustaining our bodies and souls.
    O Lord--
    Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit--
--amen. This is adapted from a grace recited by Japanese Catholics. It is only loosely related to the "Bless us, O Lord, and these, Thy gifts [...]" formulation usually used in English.
