In this way you only change the type of mirroring, switching from the vertical one to the horizontal one or viceversa unless is those SCs that completely inverts your controls, but since it changes every few seconds, you'll go mad anyway. Add also the fact that your firing/bomb/whatever controls are inverted, and that unless you are used in moving using your right hand, you'll probably screw anyway. This will be probably even worse than playing fair.

Actually, I just got used to "inverted controls", so it never phased me for more than the half-second it took to realize my controls were inverted.
The only thing that weirds me out are when they do those "every few seconds" changes, like Earthbound does.
Same here. If the controls don't get randomized every few seconds, then whether it's inverted or changed, It doesn't take me long to just get used to the new controls at least untill my controls go back to normal.
