April, 1945. Maruyu on a training exercise was seeing off the Yamato on its way to battle off Okinawa. On orders of the captain who 'wanted to do it once in his lifetime' had the crew line up on the deck and salute the Yamato. Hundreds of sailors of the Yamato returned the salute and some of the crew started crying that a 70,000 ton battleship would salute the crew of a 300 ton cargo submarine.
