She is actually mirroring the figure's movements. I'm not sure if you've seen a lot of exercise videos, but they normally do it like this. When you're doing physical stuff, it takes no thinking time to match the apparent movement of whatever character is facing you on the screen; if they lift up the arm that is left relative to your perspective, you lift up your left arm; if they walk to your right, you walk to your right; no thinking required.
