Several of the Brother-in-law's ships had their fitouts removed so they could act as a strike crew. Maya, Ise, Hyuuga, Kaga and Choukai all volunteered. There is probably some way to return their fitouts, since Kaga is one of the Brother-in-law's best ships.

Err...so how is Tenryuu who still has her Ocean Outfit casually climb on an Abyssal ship climbs in few scenes after this? That would mean those girls, unlike Tasuta, haven't got their outfits removed...probably.

No, they did, because they can't ride in each other without having their fit-outs removed.

ORIGINALLY, this is why they were scrapping those girls in the first place, as the ship that carried them to the abyssal stronghold couldn't enter the stronghold, and they couldn't all just sail up one-by-one, they needed a drop-off.

It's just a totally unexplained plot hole just to let Tenryuu have a chance to do something at the end of the main plot (while Inazuma and Shiranui for all intents and purposes sit it out).

It's possible that Shipgirls can ride in Abyssals no problem, just not inside their comrades.

If that's the case, then why couldn't any of the other shipgirls just perform a boarding action like Tenryuu did? They specifically scrapped several shipgirls (or at least, their fit-outs) just to make it possible for them to ride in another shipgirl just to board the abyssal ship. Kaga, Maya, and Choukai, at least, were experienced front-line units they scrapped. If they could have just sailed on up with an extra few cruisers and carriers to break through enemy lines, why wouldn't they?

The only reason given that Inazuma and the other second fleet ships didn't join was that they were fighting off Ri with the support fleet. They could have just zone flooded and piled more ships on, but for reasons left completely unexplained if that were the case.

IIRC, the plan was to sneak to the Abyssal Base riding Iku, not board a battleship, so...

What about Akashi? Couldn't it be that she's here to do the scrapping (and possibly refurbishing)?

Not sure if fan of Schwarzenegger-ified Ise and Hyuuga.
