I'd buy that. Since Maribel and Renko live in a near-future Japan that's become increasingly overrun with modernity, perhaps it's harder than ever for them to find tea that isn't of the instant/powdered/K-cup variety.

Or perhaps it's related to the eternal "bags vs. leaves" debate amongst tea drinkers.

Not necessarily. Merry has canonically visited the SDM and met Sakuya as Merry, not Yukari, in Changeability of Strange Dream, although there it was only a one-time thing. Presumably in this comic's continuity she's gone over there more than once.

She looks like she's still Merry in this comic in those SDM flashbacks too (no ribbons in the hair)
