Well, this seems to be Japan's way to deal with these threats and to show them they aren't being taken seriously by the Japanese.

When an ISIS-member made the announcement of the two captured Japanese men and were threatening to decapitate them, his Twitter account was pretty much spammed to death by Japanese people with anime pictures and various related comments. Including, but not limited to, pictures of Love Live! and asking him which character he finds the cutest.

It became sort of a trend/meme when Isis showed their video and demanded a ransom of 200 million yen from the Japanese to release the 2 japanese hostage, one was suppose to be a journalist and another was an adventurer of somesort , but rather than caring most of the Japanese turned it into a joke. Many even said the 2 men did it to themselves and

more people cared about what happened to Kisaragi

than the two. Needless to say, it's become a joke. Even Isis gave up.

    Or so I heard.

    This. Just this.

Quite honestly I could see this as pissing off ISIS quite a bit; them being presented as "girls who do not follow the proper teachings of Islam".

Imagining them flipping their shit to was essentially is a picture of a cute girl is hysterical in my mind.

Trolling is already a nasty thing to do as is.

Doing it to murderous psychopaths that can and do kill people: not the smartest plan. Has internet trolling made people so detached from responsibility and consequence that they're willing to crap on a life and death situation like this?

This is the worst in everyway. I really hope this info in the comments turns out to be only rumors.

When ISIS threatened to behead 2 countrymen live, they shrugged and fired up photoshop.

When a cartoon girl was killed off, everyone lost their minds.

Well, I wouldn't say that they "gave up" gave up and unfortunely one of the hostage was killed, if it is to believed from the most recent news. But as a terrorist group they were most likely trying to spread fear and terror to the mass of Japan and become known. However after what happen, the fact that most of the Japanese cared almost nothing about them as well as the fact that they were pretty much ridiculed and Kisaragi was deemed to be a more important event to the point even they were shocked.

They pretty much gave up on the 200 million ransom and now rather than money they're demanding a hostage exchange instead. While it's still negotiating and somewhat given in to them, at least now they'll still be able to have a chance to get a hostage back and not be helping them as majorly, seeing how a hostage exchange is much less destructive them funding them (hopefully).

But from this event, I doubt Japan would be as high on the list for Isis to go after. Hopefully anyway, since this isn't exactly a "fun" event that should continue to occur.

Sounds like your typical "It doesn't affect me, so it's not my problem." situation.

Anyway, Know Your Meme has more information on the situation, both on the general mocking of ISIS, and on Isis-chan herself.

Constantly picking at terrorist groups is probably not a wise decision, but I go by the: 'don't give them even an inch,' when it comes to reprieve for extremist groups. Anyways, when can I look at a world without these stupid extremists running about?

Panic around the country when it was heard that Kanmusu Kisaragi was sunk. The second ship of the the Mutsuki-class was struck down by a rogue torpedo that appeared out of nowhere and was sunk immediately, without as much as a chance to go into night battle.

Authorities everywhere were baffled as to how such a tragic event were to happen, especially when Kisaragi was shown to be in perfect condition and never proceeded to the next node nor were any enemies sighted nearby.

Police: We reckon there might be some sort of foul-played at hand. You see, you're not suppose to be able to sink unless you're in critical condition AND when you continue to proceed instead of retreating. We're doing everything we can to get to the bottom of this.

Riots and civil disobedient are appearing all over the country as the news of the poor girl's fate, as well as several attempted suicides.

Random civilian: I CAN'T LIVE KNOWING THAT KISARAGI HAS SUNK! IF SHE CAN SINK THAT MEANS EVERYONE ELSE CAN ALSO SINK! **** THIS CRUEL WORLD!!

Today truly is a dark day. DMM refuse to speak out about this incident, as well as Kisaragi's sister ship Mutsuki but we understand. All us of here express our grief to this tragic event and assure you that justice will be served.

Kisaragi's last words were, and I qoute; "Please don't forget about Kisaragi."
No, we will not forget you nor your bravery. May your soul rest in peace.

No no, their problems would be displayed as a 'ticker' at the bottom of the screen, simply saying: 'ISIS kidnap 2, demand melons,' whilst the other part is being broadcast.

Japan has a self-defense force and is backed-up by America. Not to mention they have pretty high security in regards to things like guns and such.

I would also not really understand or see a reason why Terrorist would go and attack Japan when Japan is a pretty nowhere in regards to world events. Even if they did attack it, it wouldn't cause a big a stir as say, America. I mean, it would be awful but it would be the same as attacking Australia. Hell, attacking South Korea would cause a bigger panic from the rest of the world than Japan would. Not saying that Japan isn't important but terrorists aiming for it would gain little to nothing except being a bunch of pussy dickheads that's too afraid to aim for an stronger country.

Japan joined in the coalition bombing ISIS targets recently, so they became a target of ISIS in retaliation.

That, and Japan is an island nation. Middle Eastern terrorist groups would have no borders to abscond beyond to maintain their intangibility. I do think, however, that the attack, should it happen, would cause a pretty big stir, if only because people would be wondering "Why Japan" and "What good would that do them".

Anyways, the closest to a terrorist attack that'll happen in Japan is a lone wolf attack carried out by Malaysians or Iranians already living there. Doubt it'll happen since even looking like an Arab over there will get you dirty looks everywhere.
