    I don't think Mutsu live long enough to know that though ^^;

    Since the girls were still have memory of their past events as ships and battles and such I would assume kancolle takes more place in the future than the past so yes, nuclear weapons would most likey be a commonly known thing to the girls, as with most of the prototype and post-WWII weapons.

    The whole memory thing seems to only spring up in the Ganbare Fubuki-chan manga. In the other mediums not so much. Hell the Anime gave us almost nothing about the current setting.

    The memories has been hinted in many of the girl's dialog if you read them closely, as well as in their library. Taihou's fear of explosions, Mutsu's fear of fire, many of the ways they were defeated as well as random problems like Samidare ramming into Shiratsuyu and blasting Hiei, or how they disliked being called certain things.

    If this took place EXACTLY in WW2 setting then there's no way any of those lines would be mention.
    They would also know about Nuclear weapons as well since one of Nagato's line mention her nuclear testing.

    I'm not disputing the Time and place being taken place. I'm just saying that the different mediums Kadokawa is using all seem to have their own "self canon". Again, The anime has given us jack all for a setting and we know next to nothing(in the anime's setting) about what the hell the ship girls are supposed to be.

    In the set up for the mangas though, they all actually give a sense of setting and in the more serious manga, they outright say that the girls have memories of the WW2 ships.

    Some doujins also use the "Alternate Diminsion" thing a try to. Where the setting is exactly WW2, but the girls form/powers are being taken from "Another" world into theirs. Kancolle's canon is kinda all over the place and I'm not sure if that's Kadokawa's aim or not. Sendai for example isn't a lolicon in the anime nor are the Hyuuga sisters prominent characters.

    Sendai was a lolicon? Where? Didn't see it anywhere... (although Nagato in the anime seems to have a faint hint of DD-con tendancies)
