Even if it does use some form of ion-trapping technology, it's going to fuck-up your lungs and other mucuous membranes with all the ozone it produces.

Edit: I've heard from an acquaintance that it actually does work, but it uses a conventional HEPA filter (basically a very fine-woven mesh) instead of any new-fangled plasma technology.
