Its really not that bad...its not Aku no Hana, so its good enough. I don't really expect the anime to many episodes, just something to get people interested in the manga, like most animes. Be happy it got one than nothing, shows people care and the creator is happy.
Lelei and Rory redesign reminds me of some maho-shojo...and Itami has different vibe to him very different. I am affraid they will change personalitys of main characters

Lory is… tolerable, even though that cat ears and mini skirt No problem with Tuka, still looks like an elf and most of them looks like each others anyway (different race, they all look the same)
Well, I can't say I expected it to be perfect (not enough frills!) but it seems very... generic? Like, 'generic FPS guy, generic elf, generic mage, human cosplaying as catgirl with giant axe'... ok maybe not so generic on that last bit.

You'd be surprised by how many "human cosplaying as catgirl with giant axe" characters I've seen 'round my part of the world... And that's only counting ones with "Goth Loli" outfits, too. (Mostly contained in web rpg sessions, thankfullly.)

I honestly don't see how bad design calls can be redeemed. Well if it will have glorious animation like latest F/SN but don't count on that. But I also see so many ways for the series to be ruined even more. -censorship (almost 100% sure) -QUALITY -cut content etc.

As for my opinion on it, I think it looks promising. I've been loving the manga so far and from what was seen here, it doesn't give too much of an idea of what we'll see. The redesigns look far cleaner and more precise than what was seen in the manga, though as an equivalent exchange, there will probably be poorly animated parts and some cut content. No way to know for sure, but its happened in the past.
Something said here was that the designs look generic, to which I say so did the manga's. For example, both in the manga and in the anime, Rory looks like an elegant gothic lolita without much to differentiate the two.
All in all, if the trailer looks to be what I expect of it, then I'm looking at what may be my next big fling, just like space dandy.
Also I'm assuming this will be +12 or something so epic battles will be ditched in favour of fat fanservice for neckbeards.
They expanded the battle of Ginza and showed all three allied charges. The manga only showed the last night charge.
I can't make up my mind whether Rory's or Lelei's redesign is worse...
The manga design may have been first but it wasn't better.
Compare the first two eps of the anime to their corresponding manga chapters (one manga chapter (about 20 pages) vs one anime episode (about 20 minutes)) . . .
The anime actually expanded the content as opposed to cutting it.
I actually think the first two episodes did a better job than the manga.
