The taste is okay. But the effect it gave to my stomach is not. It ranges from feeling uncomfortable, slight diarrhea, to burning feeling.
You get the same feeling if you drink a bottle of coke in the morning. It's a good idea to drink a small amount in the morning, rather than gulp down a whole pint before lunch.
In order to enjoy coffee I have to put so much milk and sugar in it that it may as well not be called coffee any more; I guess that makes me the average white girl at Starbucks, but I just don't bother.

nope, that's ok. not many people can stand black coffee(especially the one that taste so bitter), as the time going you will slowly get adapted with the black coffee taste. but i don't know if it's true or not, there are saying that's the less the sugar you put in, the effect of staying awake are stronger(still a myth though)

Never tried with Coke, but I think it's the acidity rather than the bitter taste.
At least what I had when trying Espresso (and drank it a bit too late). No problem with the bitter taste, but it's private time with the toilet seat soon after.

I thought full fledged elegant ladies don't drink coffee because it'll harm their breath and teeth. Ladies drink tea with their pinkies out.
Not really a lady, just "adult" because children rarely drink coffee, and there are parents who doesn't allow children to drink it (probably they believe it will keep the children awake and bothering them longer in the night)
The normal measure of sugar doesnt go well with the Black Coffe you need to apply the OOZ662's logic, but probably you will not be the white girl mentioned in that post.
I can see the appeal of coffee. Its cheap (depending on where you live), universally available, and nearly the same in many languages. I used to work around people who would latch themselves onto the coffee pot like ticks.
