Hm...I do not understand why did you say that, since I heard the American in the Pacific Theatre not just provided Japanese the necessary logistic support(like oil) for their repatriation, but also provided Liberty type cargo ships, LSTs, and some hospital ships(all of them manned by Japanese crews) that helped to accelerate their repatriation that would take several years if they had done alone. What's going on here (-.-)?

    P.S.
I thought Akashi, Yuubari, and Akitsushima were sunk before the end of war.

I'm talking about forcing a (ship) girl with broken legs (read as: engines) to do repair work.

It has to be noted that ships in the real world do not and cannot have lives outside of the service they perform. As a boat, you've got a one-in-a-million shot to live out your days as a museum ship, otherwise it's either do SOMETHING or get scrapped. This is the case regardless of which side you're on (being on the winning side give you better odds of the museum fate, but even that didn't save Enterprise, of all people).

Is Kitakami the victim of slave drivers forcing her to work despite being crippled, or is she being given a second lease on life despite being in a condition which by all means should have put her in the junkyard?

I agree with the latter at least it was far better a fate than what some others had

    Heeeeeeeiiiii...
Forcing me to help because the docks are full?
    All right.
    A sweatshop navy.
During the repatriation after the war, the overuse of transport ships without adequate maintenance caused them to break down. To help, Kitakami, which was unable to sail due to the damage from the air raids, was towed to Kagoshima and spent the remainder of her days as a repair tender.
Next replace the main cannon on this rig?
(Destroyer Fuyutsuki and Transport No174 were also assigned repair duties.)
