Well, Mutsuki class really sucks at getting MVP... Heh.

Plus, last we saw her, she was this close to hitting Lv99.

80 strips for something you can do at worst in 3 sorties or expedition 1 x 40. If Fubuki is considered "plain" by community, all the Mutsuki class have always last word. Doujin has made them a big favor, in particular to Nagatsuki.

even sparkling a decent lv 20 mutsuki class through normal way in world 1-1 is a real pain, often get taiha'd. taking them in strong fleet for easy battle in pvp is easier. yes, if not for doujin and fan art its hard for mutsuki class to be popular.

as the only distinctive trait of mutsuki class in function is the lowest fuel/ammo consumption. which is great for long expedition or maps that dont need high power but high resource need

I don't know, I take like Mutsuki-class (fully modernized) to 1-1 along with 3 other level 1 fodder DDs with 1 single level 1 to 9 submarine, then go Line Abreast on 1st node then double line on north node and line ahead on boss node. I get sparkle for my Mutsuki-class all the time using this method o.o;

im not really diligent enough to fully modernize mutsuki class +_+; and my lowest level subs is lvl 22 means even without any equipments, they can steal mvp from the flagship on opening torpedoes.

the easier method for me is using another mutsuki class/low level DD(no weapons) on par with mutsuki flagship(with weapons), take both to 1-1 till the 2nd goes fatigue/ taihad, change with other mutsuki class while waiting the fatigue better.

and the whole process is a bit annoying because to fully sparkle a ship you need around 3 runs of 1-1 till the moral reach 80+ from non sparkle. this 80+ moral can be used for around 10 times expeditions before the moral goes back to 49(non sparkle)

So the doujins boost Mutsuki's class' popularity huh? I didn't know, I just decided myself that I will be keeping them all since the first moment I got one of them, and that was Satsuki (my starter is Fubuki).

They are cute enough, and powerful enough. Don't know about others, but my Mutsukis can do wonders. Yayoi once gave a Ta-class in 2-5 hell in day battle, bringing her to 21HP before gets her in night battle, Nagatsuki, though hardly sortie but she can just stay undamaged while 2 battleships are red, and got the MVP through 3-1. The others are pretty much stuck with expeditions but they hardly get damaged as they hit lv30 as I sparkle them in 1-1.

That might be all because I'm different from the rest with my luck. But they are good enough to get my attention.

P/S: I bot Shimakaze soon after started and then Amatsukaze through event but they are now only 17 and 20. Seems like I don't know how good they might be.

Kisaragi I've loved since I first found her in the game in Spring 2014 and she is in fact part of my active sortie fleet. Nagatsuki I did like at first a lot too, but I can't deny that my today's fondness towards her is thanks to doujins (It is in particular thanks to Kouji-sensei, his depiction of Nagatsuki is adorable). Satsuki, the third Mutsuki-class ship girl who I like particulary lot is also thanks to doujins. Yayoi and Uzuki I haven't even seen in almost any fan works, but I rather like them too.

Mutsuki-class ship girls do fine in ASW roles. You don't need high stats in such a role, any DD can fill that role as long as the DD is high level.
