However, Orin's almost certainly never going to be a playable since she's very firmly in the Youkai camp.
You're more likely to see Orin as a "partner" to Reimu like Yukari and Suika have been than a playable outside of one of the fighters. (And yeah, likely, LoLK's 5th stage, which may well be someone like Yorihime, will be playable later... Although it may well just be Reisen 2...)

I'm afraid that might be the case, which makes Shou's case isn't any better. And if we are to consider her role in the group, I actually think Byakuren(or Ichirin, maybe) has better chance to be a playable character in a main game than Shou.

if it's a game about swindling cadavers then yea she can be a playable character
even with those 5th stage boss being playable, a certain 2nd stage boss manage to do it twice and have her own game
That is actually a brilliant idea for a fan game. Orin could be trying to steal corpses from Myouren Cemetery. You can play as Rin and try to steal the corpse, or as Shou to defend them.
No kidding, considering how popular Clownpiece is.
Well, the speculation was that the Stage 5 boss might be human, or mostly human, such as Yorihime. However, in true ZUN fashion, he left the twist out of the demo. Although she may be playable in a side game, or another Phantasmagoria if there is one, Clownpiece won't be joining playable command, except maybe honorarily like Cirno (I personally hope not).
EDIT: Well, now that's all out the window. Who knows what character will be next?
