It's the only way she can see, and she can't do it all the time or she'll slowly wither away and die.
but she points out twice different structures when you are in idlyshire, not to mention she sees the bridge is collapsed but tells you she knows another way. Oh well... maybe she is blind.
update i made it a little further in the game, and yeah she is blind.. thats sad, I really like Y'shtola too.
