    It looks like I've become 'that guy', but this is another case of something being highly rated both by the aristocrats and the peasants, and still the mods say no. It even made it to the daily popular section.

    There are quite a few more mods than the three that have looked at it so far; don't despair of the mods just yet.

    A mod approved it just before you posted this, actually!

    I looked at it and passed it over because, while the high score makes me look good for approving it, I don't care for it. That's how the mod system works. You'll always get people who approve stuff just because the score is high, but that's not always a good thing!

    That is true. I don't think the quality of this picture is high enough for Danbooru either, personally, but the issue I'm trying to bring up is the divide between popular appreciation and what might be called critical appreciation, mirroring the way movies are received by audiences and critics. I've been lurking on Danbooru since late 2009, and I'm still not really sure who the site is for. If it's essentially a private collection that is publicly viewable, then that's cool, but if it's about community involvement, then the way things currently work just feels like it takes the community out of the equation, or at least most users of the community.
