God I love this manga. How it's a combo of Oishinbo and Cooking Papa's cooking bullcrap (which I love) with fake ingredients, and the whole tsukkomi thing from Marushiru.
Anyone know why there's a sudden surge of art/attention for this? Could we be get getting an anime?

Ah, nice - that sorta thing can lead to an anime. It'd be perfect for it.

I had never heard of this series before but your description made me go check it out. Cooking nonsense + fantasy nonsense + tsukkomi? I'm in. I've only read two chapters so far but I haven't been disappointed (except that there's not more translated yet/I'm going to have to wait!) So...thank you! This would definitely make for an interesting anime.
If the studios have any taste at all and recognize what's a good recipe for a successful anime, this will get it. Still, even a single bad ingredient can ruin the whole dish, so they need to be careful with the cast and director choices.
The manga is being translated in English and released in 2017 by Yen Press. That's something to look forward to.
Also, I can't believe it took me this long to find this series... it reminds me FAR too much of Dwarf Fortress. ("Yay! We killed a 80-ton spider that breathes flesh-melting poison! We'll be eating meat for MONTHS!")
