Does anyone else wish they could give Junko a hug right now?
Ugh... Junko almost toppled the most hated race in the Touhou-verse to wreak vengeance against the person who killed her son (who I doubt was apologetic), and most likely would have succeeded if Sagumé hadn't tried to invade Gensokyo, and yet she's still treated like a two-dimensional villain by the fandom.
Can anyone at least tell me if ZUN writes what happened to her in any of the game's endings?

Not in the endings, but at the end of the extra stage Junko and Hecatia temporarily drop their grudge and it's implied they will visit Gensokyo after becoming interested in the protagonist and Eirin, who they wish to meet.
And Chang'e didn't kill Junko's son. She's the target of Junko's misplaced anger due to Junko forgetting the reason for her grudge and just wanting revenge on everyone involved, hence why the Lunarians are caught in the middle. She's simply pure grudge whose reasons don't matter by this point. The truth is that Houyi, her husband, left Junko for Chang'e and killed the son he had together with Junko. It's implied Chang'e had some influence over him, but it's unknown if she actually knew. If it's anything like the myth, Junko would have gotten her revenge on Houyi long ago. EDIT: Looking at the ending, yeah, Houyi is dead.
Wait, what??? Why did ZUN feel the need to change that part of her backstory? It just makes her look like an idiot!
Also, Hecatia holds a grudge against Chang'e, too? What's up with that?
Well, I edited it. Chang'e had an "evil gift" that apparently influenced Houyi in some way, but it's still unknown if she told him to or knew he did it. She might just be an impossibly beautiful, bewitching homewrecker.
It's very similar to the Mokou/Kaguya grudge. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an intentional parallel.
Hecatia is a being of Hell, a goddess. Houyi is the archer who shot down nine out of ten suns in myth, leaving the one sun we have today. Her reason is that shadows need the sun to exist. No sun, no shadows and dark things to be afraid of, etc., no Hell. However, she only cared and began to act on her grudge, lending Junko fairies like Clownpiece, once Junko befriended and influenced her. Her grudge isn't all that strong and she really seems to be going along with Junko.

Actually Junko or the person she was based on wasn't in the Chang'e legend, but was in another legend where there is another Houyi. Seems like in Touhou both Houyi are the same person.

And for more mixup, there is also various variant of Chang'e legend, commonly either Houyi is a hero and a good guy, or Houyi is a jerkass who is hungry for power (which sort of fits the Houyi in Junko's legend)

Well, her grudge is still purified so that it's all that's left, but I wouldn't call her a monster, no. Her sorrow is still the reason she had such anger even if she's somewhat forgotten that. She still has sympathy for anyone outside her targets. The reason she stood down is because the Lunarians basically held Gensokyo hostage. It was never her intention to get anyone else involved (nor was it Sagume's plan to actually go through with the Lunarians' infiltration in full, but I believe they would have if they had to). Junko and Hecatia are pretty nice, overall.
Junko and Chang'e never crossed paths in myth, as far as I know. But this is where it gets confusing, because there are basically two Houyis that appear in separate stories. The Junko (known as Chun Hu or Xuan Qi in myth) version was a warlord who killed her husband and became ruler, took her as his, killed her son, and was killed in retribution by Chun Hu and a scheming minister of Yi's. The Chang'e version is basically the one more people know, though in some tellings he also goes mad with power, like the other Houyi.
Anyway, there's confusion regarding whether they're the same, if one was simply based on the other, or what. It's also been proposed that Chang'e was merely based on Chun Hu (or vice versa I guess).
Anyway, ZUN basically took this confusion to its natural conclusion and merged the two Houyis together.

Well byakuren fight the heroïne because she is the final boss, nothing else, after she just live peacefully, she has no plan at all so it doesn't matter if she win this fight or not.

Well I think pointed out more in Marisa's story than anyone else's, her campaign for helping the Youkai was outdated, meaning that if her "equality" got through human lives would've been jeopardized in the process, therefore her plan would've had some harmful effects if the heroines never joined to stop her, although Marisa's the one who defeated her for that cause.

To be precise, the Houyi in the shooting sun legend is a hero, while the other Houyi in the Xia Dynasty is a jerkass.
The saddest part is that now Junko don't care about her son anymore the only thing she care is her grudge this make me really worried of what she will do to Chang'e if she got her hand on the forth Hourai immortal
