We've said this dozens of times, and while I won't argue if this gets approved, don't upload your own art to danbooru.

That doesn't seem very effective for a potentially anonymous image board.

Odds are, if you're posting here, you're American (or British, Canadian, or Australian) If that's the case, you probably don't draw the same quality anime art that this site is accustomed to (Note: I mean quality of the drawing style, subject matter is something else).

There is tons of shitty shit on this site way worse quality then this. This isn't even bad in comparison.

Most of that 'shitty shit' is old stuff that just hasn't been deleted yet. And saying 'well, it's not as bad as THIS' isn't an excuse. Shit is still shit, even if it smells slightly better than some other shit.

Being the art critic that you are and taking into consideration the GPS that you have integrated which allows you to pin-point with uncanny accuracy the location of those artists whose work are considered to be "high-quality" enough to be here... I have 2 questions for you, to answer look at the following link:

    1) Is this piece of good enough artsmanship for the patrons of Danbooru to become accostumed to?

    2) If the answer to the above is yes, proceed. Where would you say the artist is located? Japan? Korea? Because if I'm not mistaken, reiq is Venezuelan (which falls under the umbrella "American" term), currently residing in the UK.

As you can see, the art, artists and even patrons (such as myself) are more multi-national than what you give credit to. As for art-style and quality, I am sure all of us who visit this place want "good art", but also a diversity in style. Fortunately one category is fairly common to achieve, making things easy. Unfortunately where it comes to considering "good art" we could sit here and go debating about it as we find that each person's criteria is as diverse as the available styles by which the art was represented in. Example: the picture here in question. To me it appears very well drawn, even though I am not overly enthusiast of chibi art. And I am sure that I am not alone in believing that the piece is good enough to be exhibited in here.

But again, we fall into the dilemma of the subjectivity of criteria and the diversity of it. What are the strict common guidelines by which in the end we determine what art/-ists make the cut to stay here? How do we democratize the deletion process enough to avoid the do-away of works that may have been "good enough" simply because of the power of the few?

Why don't you add this to the discussion in forum #10358 instead of spamming the comments here?

That kind of post is acceptable on Danbooru, but only because albert is famously horny (see post #6657).

    2) If the answer to the above is yes, proceed. Where would you say the artist is located? Japan? Korea? Because if I'm not mistaken, reiq is Venezuelan (which falls under the umbrella "American" term), currently residing in the UK.

If you think reiq could ever be mistaken for a Japanese artist, you are disqualified from talking about art ever again. That's just a fact.

Example: the picture here in question. To me it appears very well drawn, even though I am not overly enthusiast of chibi art.

    QED.

How do we democratize the deletion process

    We don't.

Is it racist to think that Japanese artists are limited in their art styles, or racist that Westerners are incapable of similar style and quality?

Neither is racist. Both are stereotypic thinking, though.
