It seems to be everyone experimenting with 2003-era Javascript ripple animation effects. At least Sazanami Konami drew new art for it, as far as I can tell.

I'm getting a headache staring at that.

I probably wouldn't have bothered uploading the one I did if I'd have realized there'd be hundreds of them in a week.

From my memories, they use Java Applet for this, not JavaScript.

You're right - we used to use Java for this. There were some obnoxious effects back in the day.
