Although I don't know the series personally, but if those Aki, Mika, and Mikko are as Finnish as their names suggest, the instrument isn't koto, which is a Japanese instrument. It's kantele, which belongs to the same family of instruments, but probably their origin is thousands of years in the history, in the vaults of Gilgamesh, from where they diverged, like everything else according to FSN. Obviously they look quite different.

They are all Japanese. Their school is just Finland themed. They may have gotten their hands on a kantele, but it is also possible they they (the characters) can't tell the diffrence and got a koto thinking that it was a kantele. If you can tell the diffrence between a koto and a kantele then go ahead and fix the tags accordingly.

Yeah, they look very different. The instrument in the pic has the form of quite a traditional kantele. Koto looks totally different, unless it has some less known forms, but I doubt it.
I have never touched tags as I haven't uploaded pics, but I can give it a try one of these days if it's okay. Even if it's to create a new tag that will never get many hits.
