I didn't think about this until reading your comment, but you know, you're right. Mikazuki is Setsuna as Setsuna should have been: stoic, dark, tragic past, but still a functioning human being in his relationships, if a bit stilted.

To be fair, Setsuna was already basically Heero Yuy as Heero Yuy should've been.
