There's a buncha Nidorans just outside Viridian Woods...same strategy with Whitney's Miltank.

Bah, forget the Nidorans. I remember blunt forcing my way through Brock's Gym by siccing Charmander's "Ember" on the Onyx until it fainted. Granted, it took about 4-5 hits, but it's definitely faster than having Pidget scratching and sand-attacking it in an infinite loop.

I just used Butterfree's Confusion on it until it dropped.

What? I was ten. And I also picked Squirtle because I cheesed ice moves all the way through the Elite Four.
