Definitely. You can see the light edges on the outlines where the character layer was masked. Not perfect, but still a good sight better than the earlier low-res, transparent attempts.

I've never actually scanned anything like this myself, but I'm curious what it would look like if the character transparency had a black backing sheet instead of white (making an assumption here).

edit: never mind, thinking about it for a half a second, it would look terrible

There is a absurdly highres raw scan of it up on Yande. Perhaps someone with those fancy photoshop skills can work the finishing touches please?
