    16春のイベント。皆々様はいかが攻略お過ごしでしょうか? 個人的にはE6以降、大和型でさえ一撃中大破が発生する、中々な心折設計だなぁと感じました。だもんで、試用も兼ねて今回はこんな感じのネタを一つ・・・。(イイ話で終わらせたい方は、右手でそっと最後のコマを隠して下さればと思います)
    ※なお、なんやかんやで攻略は完了したので、次こそは海外艦娘のネタを投射する予定です。

Isn't this the first time we've seen munmu's Admiral?

... why "the devil", Akashi? Not all men can make girls shed tears by words of encouragement alone... right?

Now why isn't this in 'Good work, Admiral' pool? As well as 'Heart-warming', and 'Almost Heart Warming' due to last panel for good measure.

She didn't quite mean devil in it literal meaning, and I think you know that.

This admiral doesn't always wear his uniform, but when he does he makes sure to make the ladies swoon.

Considering how similar the relationship with the admiral that Mutsu and Hiei seem to have had up to this point and considering the similarity of their character design, does anyone else think it's possible that the two are actually just one of those ship that cosplays as the other sometimes?

Just to say, it was literally, "One hell of a bastard" in Japanese.

Now why not use this translation? Makes more sense and carries the meaning properly.

Because Japanese is a context heavy language. Yuubari's line and Mutsu's makes Akashi's need quite an over statement. Well, I'm too lazy to go into it. But I let's just say, there were more translators than just Paracite and I went through this post, that, I can be sure of, and not one of them felt the need to edit it. So why bother if it's not literal or too dramatic?

I rather like how you put it compared to the original translation. This line was bugging me and i was thinking of what makes more sense yet accurate.

    Thank you

While I still prefer my original translation, it's possible that it's used differently that how I have experienced the idiom in my life.

I've reworded it, since 'One hell of a bastard' also doesn't suit in context - it's supposed to be friendly jibe, in a manly style - would you call your friends a 'bastard'? I certainly wouldn't.

やろう can be rude in some contexts, but in friendly conversations, it's really just 'guy' or 'bloke' or regional equivalent.

Thank you for your compliment. I too liked mine better. But then I still chose Paracite's translation over mine, although, you could see how I did edit where he was wrong. That's because it was a fit for a woman to say, better than the "bastard" which has a more masculine impression.

Well, I was into literal translation too, I still am, but now I feel the need to express it in ways that readers can understand rather than keep it how it is. I consider this a growth for me as is should be harder to balance both of that. So yeah, I like Paracite's first translation than yours. But the man himself made an edit to suit you too, and although I still think it lacks the impact, it's good enough for me to not change it.

Just for your information, I do call my friends "bastards". Well, they are good friends to the point even set up a shrine and light me some incense and took pictures of it when I was only sleeping. Yeah, good friends are kind of always the kind of bastards making fun of you daily but still rush in to help you in need.

やろう can be rude in some contexts, but in friendly conversations, it's really just 'guy' or 'bloke' or regional equivalent.

This, I can't be quite agreed with you. While the word やろう does mean "guy" and "bloke", but it's commonly used in line of "bastard", as how my knowledge goes. Besides, the ぜ in Akashi's line makes it a masculine one, so a masculine "bastard" could also be used.

But then again, she's still a woman and is saying it, as you said, in a friend jibe. So yeah, I still think yours suits better.

P/S: Oh scheisse! The length. I wouldn't be surprised if no one but Paracite and papersamurai would read it. lol
