Added a few annotations with some more details for those who might be unfamiliar with Comiket.

1100 dollars! Is one day at Comiket truly that expensive?

Well, it can be; but this is more a 3-day loadout when it comes to change. There are often very expensive special goods avaliable in the 2-5,000 range, and sets in the 1-3,000 range as well.

Also, if you're going with friends, you should be helping out and getting some things for them as well - which just adds up to more and more money that you need on hand.

At the last Winter Comiket (C89) I think I spent about 200,000 yen over the three days; but that was for a crew of 8, and I was able to go to all the walls, so it added up quickly.

I would hazard that the majority of people going would only be hitting up 10-20 circles anyway, so you could easily go for 20,000-50,000 instead.

It really just comes down to what you want to buy; there's no cost for entry (you used to have to buy the catalog, but that hasn't been the case for a very long time - smaller events still do to cover costs) so all the money can be spent on doujinshi and assorted goods.

But yes, 110,000 yen isn't a really surprising amount of funds for three days.

You can lower the amount by going to other events and whatnot, but a lot of circles do new releases at Comiket first, then re-sell at smaller ones later (quite a few times they've put out preview books of their upcoming works for 100 yen or the like at those events), so if you're wanting all the new hotness, then you've got to have a. a lot of funds, b. a crew and c. good planning.

Hey, I've been to Comiket enough, both general entry and fancy ticket (but not as a circle); might as well share the knowledge.

It also depends on more so how expensive the stuff is. I've bought an art piece from AX for $350 and that's just one item. In that regard spending thousands it's a lot.

It should also be noted that moving is a pain but if you know how to get through crowds you should have no problems. Human tsunamis are a thing so keep that in mind when you're traveling ;)

Spent about 175,000 yen on doujin all up; that's with no ero, and almost no goods except when the set comes with exclusive stuff, or that was the only thing they were selling. I'm only really interested in the books, not bags or posters and stuff.

All in all, just over a meter or so of doujin, stacked vertically. Haven't actually gone through and cataloged them since I got back. When you get such massive quantities of paper, it can burn through the yens pretty quickly.

    Sellotape
    If you'd please.
    For the Public
    For Circles
    Craft knife
Hydration is important (Something with minerals or whatever in it)
    Spoils of war
    1000-yen notes
    Workgloves or the like
Circle List (Route all planned out) It's a very good idea to pre-plan the route as well as what circles you want; with the amount of people and lines, you need to be tactical in what you go for.
    Gumtape (Cloth/Paper)
    Sun-blocking hat
    Change of clothes
Transport cart Some of the douijn printing companies will wheel your printed doujinshi directly to your table, some will only deliver to the loading bay
    Live Ammunition (Small change)
    Until the day before
    Easy-to-move-in shoes
Nametag with Twitter icon on it (Easy to recognise)
Morning! I'm the uriko today, nice to meet you♪ /uriko/ - someone (often not directly involved in the doujin's creation) taking one of the circle's spare tickets in exchange for manning the booth for some of the day
Change of clothes / towel etc.
Cellphone + Portable Battery There are very few places where there are publicly accessible sockets.
Ziploc + ice pack Both to stop moisture escaping, and to allow you to press directly on your skin; you could replace with with a chemical-reaction cooling pad instead.
Raincoat (For use when raining. As a rule, Comiket does not allow umbrellas)
    Shigure Coolant Water Bottle
Writing Implements (There's a lot of drawing in sketchbooks and on boxes and stuff)
Sweating it out to build stamina, keep in shape and expel waste products. (In a sauna or the like.)
Light Meals and such (Since there's times that you can't leave the event to go buy anything) You have to relinquish your entry ticket to gain early entry to Comiket - there is no way to get re-entry until it opens formally.
Cooling Towel Evaporative cooling towel - works by getting it wet and letting evaporation lower the temperature
Easy to walk in, and okay to be stood on sturdy shoes. (Sneakers / Safety Shoes and the like) Large crowds and small spaces leads to feet getting squished
However, it can get congested, so keep it as your land hand to play. In the last few hours, even with the characteristic efficiency of the Japanese postal service, it can get very crowded. You can stay after selling has finished for a while, but that's when circles start taking any left over goods (and whatever accouterments they were using) to be shipped away.
Light Cruiser Yuubari's Operation C90 Equipment Overview
The vast majority of doujinshi (not artbooks or compilations) cost ¥500
¥100 100-yen coin (red) and 500-yen coin (red) cases from the Daiso
You've gotta have summery equipment... right❤
    OPERATION C90 ARMAMENTS OVERVIEW GUIDE
    Scissors (Unexpectedly)
Rubbish bags (The more, the better) The only large-scale rubbish provided by the Big Site on the day is cardboard recycling
Frozen Sports Drinks and such 1.5~2.0L Now sold pre-frozen at convenience stores!
    SECURE ・ SPEEDY
¥100 500-yen coin change containers from the Daiso
Electronic Money (Suica/Pasmo and the like)
    UV-Cutting Glasses (Anti-glare)
Deodorant spray or whatnot. It gets quite hot inside, and circles can't really leave to go a cooler area
    ● Mentally strong. ● Doesn't get conceited. ● Sparkling. ● Knows when to retreat (for example, when her health worsen).
    Live Ammunition (Wallet - Notes)
The newly-issued for this day Thin Books.
    Cooling Pad
Ugh... Any more would be dicey...
10,000 yen bills should be used when the event's ending, not when it's just started. Some circles prefer getting ¥10,000 notes near the end, as it means they have to lug around less change.
Charged right up to ¥10,000 Just to make sure you have enough to get home; also so that you'll have money for the convenience store and vending machines - as they take Suica
    Destroyer Akigumo's C90 Equipment Overview
    AKASHI PRINTERS
You can courier your spoils of war too. Both Japan Post and Kuroneko Yamato have booths providing boxes (for sale) and mailing services on-site; both for circles and visitors. Note that packing materials are not provided (for sale or otherwise).
Space-use cloth Comiket provides circles with a bare table and chairs, nothing else
    Get!
An appropriate amount of small coins (for change)
    Bathe in sunlight
Vinyl Bags (Varied use, such as anti-rain and for etiquette purposes.)
    AUTUMN CLOUD
    NO WALKING-SMARTPHONE
    AKIGUMO-TEI
    Waist Pouch
Stand for the inventory and whatnot
    Until the day before
Rucksack (To avoid being a nuisance, it needs to be held tight) Loose bags might get knocked about
    Notebook (For taking memos, etc)
Generally, there are no goods that are priced in anything smaller than 100s
Large-sized Poster (About B1) Poster Stand (POSUTA) Most circles put up a poster; these posters are usually given away for free at the end of the event (they often have the table number on them), or if high-quality printed tapestry-style, saved for another event. If you're a wall circle, i.e. your table is on the wall of the big site, you don't need a poster stand, as you can put it directly on the wall; shutters (circles whose tables face outside, into the rolling shutters) still need poster stands, as they don't have walls. However, many of those put posters on the back of their boxes at the rear of their table as well, facing inwards to the event.
Whatever time-killing goods you feel like (Games, novels etc)
Perhaps you should also think about sunblock? If you're going early, you might be out in the direct sun for quite a few hours
Water or the like to stop dehydration
Ticket and other vital documents (Registration Card has been stamped previously) You get a limited amount of entry tickets along with your successful registration
