    Is this scene a preview for the light novel?

    Subaru kills himself with a knife after finding out what happened to Rem, right after the events of the anime, aka after he confessed to Emilia.

    This is one of the reasons it wasn't animated, one because not enough time and second it will leave a terrible aftertaste if this was the finale.
