I guess this is the way Gamefreak plans to deal with the whole transgender fiscal that's going on right now. Well, it's not exactly the first time they did something like that and props to them.
Just hope they don't plan on taking it all back like they did with Gardevior. I didn't really appreciate them changing Wally's to a Gallad, especially because it as way weaker compared to his original. Really took the fun out of it.

Doubt it's going to be reversed, especially because the Chikorita, Fennekin & Snivy evolution lines remain the same Male/Female ratio as other starters; and those 3 are just as feminine as Popplio's line IMO.

All starters will always be male oriented. Just gonna have to live with a fabulous male seal 87.5% of the time.
