Wait Yamato have 7 seaplanes? Does she even have the space for that?

Yup. Heck, the Cleveland-class scout cruiser carried four; nearly double isn't too surprising for a hotel.

Yes, and that is also reflected in KanColle in general, with 7 planes per equipment slot. She also had two catapults and cranes on her stern. You get a lot of space and weight to buy aircraft and hangars with if you don't build a fourth 2,500-ton turret.

I was about to say Yamato only had 6 six inch guns in 2 turrets. But I just looked and she originally had 12 six inch gun in 4 turrets. I'm guessing the two side guns were removed for more AA guns. Great picture, love the lay out.

They were removed by 1944 to provide her and Musashi with a huge farm of AA guns. Didn't help in the slightest since most of the Japanese AA guns were terrible and their fire control against aircraft was even worse. Added that they did not have proximity fuses for that application made it just a fall of lead and a lot of praying. The Americans lost less than a dozen planes sinking Yamato and the majority of her escorts.

The 6 inch gun turrets all came from Mogami-class cruisers anyway.

    [Speaking about their AA capability]
...Not to mention that due to they had some...unorthodox idea of using their main guns <(w/ type 3 shell that was not reliable & effective as proximity fuses for AA role)> for AA attack along with their AA guns, not just they didn't contribute anything against enemy airplane that much <(...or at all)> but, instead, they caused their poor AA capability to...even poorer.

This was because of their strong blast <(if you cannot understand it easily, I suggest to watch 'Under Siege' to grab some idea about it)> tended to disrupt/damage their AA guns' delicate aiming equipments AND people who operated AA guns.

That was the one of major reasons why Musashi was so helpless against enemy airplane during her last time [...and that was the reason why there was conflict between Musashi's main gun crew & AA gun crew during the adrift after her sunk]

To add insult to injury most of the planes lost to the Hotel-chan and her escorts weren't downed by Japanese AA-fire but by the shock wave created when one of Yamato's magazines exploded.

True... but this is Kancolle where Yamato can aim her main guns like rifles and there's all sorts of funky techno-magic at work. Plus if more USN ships and equipment are coming... I wonder how Yamato would fare refitted with American AA guns?

Quite bit better (thanks to shit like proximity fuses and actually decently sized magazines) but then again to completely unfuck Yamato it would take quite bit more than just replacing her 12.7 cm/40 (5") Type 89s with 5"/38 Mark 12s, 25 mm Type 96s with Bofors 40 mms, and 13 mm/76 Type 93s with Oerlikon 20 mms.

Not even training can help, as stated on another picture about radars... IJN Radar is pure crap.

The simplest answer is that even with the best tech of the time, AA is no replacement for actually having your own aircraft contesting air supremacy. There's a reason that when Yamato sank, the entire concept of the battleship went with her.

So goes the saying, yes. If I can pick at nits though, the folly of building big guns was probably made clear way before they shot Yamato. I'd like to think that the generals of the time were keenly aware that large ships were too difficult to maintain and would eventually be outclassed by a more discreet form of warfare. Maybe they didn't know what would follow, but they probably knew killing Yamato was killing a dying breed.
