It never occurred to me a lens hood could be installed in a reversed orientation for convenience when its actual function is not needed. Although I'm not sure my cheap replica would allow that anyway.

You can. I do that when taking photos using the integrated flash or when I need mobility.

It's not applicable for all lens hoods. Usually on bayonet-style ones, it's possible, but I hate that because I manual focus all the time. Usually I'll stick to a fixed metal hood that's attached via the filter ring.

Maybe perspective, I don't remember my late GX1 being that big relative to the torso ^^;
That lens should be the old 45-200.
