In the end of all, Kaga was build as Tosa-class battleship. Those battleships in plans are even bigger than Nagato and Mutsu, and they was having twin 410mm guns in five turrets.

Funny how we have a dozen battleship Kagas but yet there seems to be 0 battlecruiser Akagis on Danbooru (hell, even when talking about Internet in general they seem to be quite bit rarer than BB Kagas).

My guess about that is the aparition of Amagi as a Carrier, so the focus of the artist was there, to make some fun or really serious stories about Akagi and her never born sister ship. But still we have a Amagi_(battlecruiser)_(kantai_collection), is the nearest thing to your request that we have.

Cuz Kaga was actually finished as a battleship while Akagi was converted into carrier mid-construction
