If she were to the trouble of risky measuring, she could had snuck through the dirty clothes basket and take any piece of cloth to do the measure. But of course that isn't plot entertaining, so I'm fine with this route.
Kiso chose the better solution. She got his measurements plus she got all cuddly with him and he got to experience Kiso's "pillows" (even if he was asleep then knocked unconscious).
