Honestly, I think this one is well drawn enough to keep despite the issues.

It always is well-drawn despite the issues. Don't you think that's a little contradiction in itself?
Of course other merits of the image are well-done. That's why it should get evaluated against the flaws of the image. To mention that nearly every single time when disagreeing with a flag is, well, kinda creating a toxic climate around flags since you will nearly always find merits for and against an upload except in rare cases.

What I'm suggesting is that the merits of this image outweigh the issues to the point where the quality is not impacted enough to warrant deletion. What more do I need to say besides writing out an epic novel about every single thing the artist did well?

Besides, is it really toxic to say well-drawn images can have flaws when I think the flag reasons are focusing too much on negatives?

    Yes, yes it clearly is.
I mean, it des happen really nearly everytime an image gets flagged. Of course we have freedom of speech and I highly encourage it, but sometimes it starts to get really annoying when every little flag gets contested in the comments. Again, I'm fairly well aware that this is allowed and a good thing per se.
The problem is that sometimes a flag doesn't even get approved despite the merits for the posts and even these happen to get a ton of attention in the flags. I wuld simply wait it out except there is a post that got really unjustified flagged.
I'd say we should focus more on the appeals AFTER a potential deletion (That was also the primarily intent of that system that was supported by some mods) The comments don't really help the moderation process and it easily gets frustrating if there are people constantly telling what we "should" approve.

I thought the purpose of flags was to point what things looks bad in an image? You don't really go around flagging stuff to point out what's good about images.

I thought the point of flagging images is a request for deletion, considering it doesn't meet the standards of Danbooru?

If it meets the standards of Danbooru, a flag is unwarranted.

That would imply that the flagger should know the fate of a post beforehand what they impossibly can't.

Wouldn't that make the flagger an irresponsible flagger, then? I thought you actually need to think of consequences when you take action on things.

Thankfully it doesn't look like every flag is getting commented on, even if we only consider the flags going after images already approved 3+ times months ago or the ones about anatomy.

However, in the case that flags -are- being contested almost every time in the comments by the userbase (in a constructive manner), perhaps there should be some examination of the kind of flags that keep causing it.

Flags for single page comics, scribbles, off-topic images and stuff with zero redeeming aspects don't raise questions like these ones do. So I wouldn't say that flags in general get contested every time. It looks like only certain kinds of flags going after specific images are raising eyebrows.

simply wait it out except there is a post that got really unjustified flagged.

This image is that case for me. I think the flag is unjustified after considering the overall artistic quality of the image and the fact it was already approved several times while the flags are essentially recycling the same argument in increasing verbosity.

Normally I would write a bit more on the merits of the image but I felt it was quite obvious how the well the artist drew it and what the purpose of this illustration was. As well, I didn't want to waste people's time by writing tomes of praise for this image. I don't think people appreciate my analysis very much anyway :/

Of course they don't raise questions.
You rarely see big boobs/thighs/asses there. I'm sorry for being so cynical, but it kinda developed into a running gag that especially flags on these uploads with these attributes are getting questioned more often than not.
