    Anyway, the Iowa remark refers to the conspiracy theory that surrounded the release of Abbey Road, in which people formed the peculiar notion that Paul McCartney had died and the record label was covering it up, and that the other Beatles were trying to get the word out with coded messages in the record (like the fact that Paul isn't wearing any shoes in the cover photo for no evident reason). It was... one of the weirder corners of the Beatles' world, which is saying something when you consider how weird the Beatles' world got after 1966.
