I wonder why Jeanne is always tagged with Jeanne Alter. Since unlike Saber Alter, Jeanne Alter is a different character not a corrupted form.
They might have explained it here. I didn't understand why Jalter gets tagged with "Ruler" since she's an "Avenger", I guess the Fate tags are all fucked up and it would be too difficult to change them now.

Because Jeanne first appeared being called "Ruler" in Fate/Apocypha, while Jeanne Alter was explicitly Jeanne Alter in Fate/Grand Order.

All the characters are tagged via their most common name in their first appearance, which is why classic Artoria is always 'Saber', Mordred is always 'Saber of Red', etc., even when their names are well and out now. For most pre-F/GO servants, they were specifically referred to by their class moreso than their names.

But Jeanne Alter and Jeanne Ruler are different characters. Cu Alter does not get tagged with lancer from what I have seen so why is Jeanne Alter?

Because she's still based on Jeanne. If i remember correctly, she's the version of Jeanne Guilles wished for, so she may have completely different character, but it's still a version of Jeanne. Not to mention visual similarity.
But I see your point completely, and I agree, every different incarnation should be tagged solo, without autotagging of "previous versions". Searching for only ruler(or saber) is impossible without adding a ton of "-character_tag" and it's a pain.

I honestly have no answer for that then, especially since Caster Cu is still co-tagged as 'Lancer'. Quite possibly because Cu Alter was a total invention in-story and not actually based on Cu Chulainn, where the Caster version was actually Cu from a different point of his legend? But that doesn't explain Jeanne and Jeanne Alter either, so...who knows then. The visual similarity argument might be the only reason (since Cu Alter was distinct enough with darker skin and eye markings, I guess?).
