    This map is normally packed quite full, but sometimes you can capture it rather too slowly...and so you go with opportunism at the end. In fact, I'd like you to think of this as sortieing time and again.

    This is true. You can't get S rank if any of your ships got sunk. Also the fact that he S-ranked with four unremodelled destroyers is rather impressive. Must've been blessed by RNG that moment.
