In Kancolle heavy damage means that your girl can sink and be lost forever.

In Azur Lane exploding is an inconvenience with no permanent effects.

In kancolle if you get heavy damage you gotta retreat of risk your bote sinking and losing it forever, aswell the repair times, in AL you can lose your whole squad and they just fine next battle without need for repairs.

there is no penalty for sinking a ship in azur lane, except for a laughably small morale loss. You can even continue to sortie with 1 less ship.

you also lose affection too, if you sunk a ship, well if you don't plan to marry her later then it should be okay. if mood reaches yellow state it should be noted your xp and combat performance are decreased as well.

Man it sounds like Azur Lane is trying to soften the things Kancolle is rough at... But the "no sinking" is just too ridiculously good

I mean Kancolle AC can bring your girls back from the sinking but with a heavy penalty unlike AL

Is there such a thing as "casual friendly" simulation game?

Yeah, apparently they can be brought back from being sunk in arcade but you have to pay or something.

    Kancolle is basically "historically accurate".

Azur Lane is "an actual game".

    That explains it

I kinda wish I could know more about AL's gameplay (and I heard it has its own plot too) so I can understand their nuances...

Well ever flight sim ever, for a start, since crashing the plane doesn't lock you out of the game forever.

I was thinking more, "The naysayers in Command don't understand that we LIKE to kill each other." </Destiny>

Because when you can come back from the dead with ease the difference between 'combat' and 'live fire training' starts to get very blurry, very quickly.

KC: You (stay) die when you're killed

AL: 'tis just a flesh wound

Funny thing is that in AL, Carriers and battleships (battle crusiers as well) are on the backline while it's DD/CL/CAs on the front line.
