The third movie was terrific, a great follow-up to the first, just because the budget was low doesn't mean it's instantly shit, it retains the spirit of the original and doesn't waste time on some things like the first one did either. That, and I'd love some more Starship Troopers fanart. Also, the second movie never happened.
The movie so badly needed power armor... Really now, using only flesh and blood, a few grenades and glorified M-16's vs ginsu-knife bugs and tanker bugs?
If you can find it anywhere, Dark Horse did a miniseries called 'Starship Troopers: Dominant Species' that actually does a pretty good job bridging the 'power-armor gap' between the novel and the movie.

Also, huge fan of the orginal book, kept it in my backpack all through high school, must've read it at least four times. Needless to say me and movies don't get along very well, I do endorse the CGI series, it was good.
Basic story is about how a juvenile delinquent comes to understand the the meaning behind 'History and Moral Philosophy,' and the things that happen in his life that lead him to join the M.I. and volunteer for a program to develope power armor. It wasn't the old anime design, but it was still a respectable, logical-looking design.
